Langara campus located in the central area of Vancouver where is near 49th ave & langara college station of Canada line. The transportation is quiet convenient which is even better than UBC campus.

Food Court Experience

It must be the only place that disappointed us in the Langara campus-----foot court. The first time we came here, it had already passed the lunch time, so this time we came here at 10:30 in order to try some food in the canteen. However, the reality hit us on the noses. The options for food are scarce and what they have is only fast food, such as subway, burger and pizza. Moreover, the worse thing is the high price. I ordered a chicken burger combo and it cost me over 10 dollars which is only 8 dollars in the MacDonald’s. Compared to it, UBC’s sub is much better, let alone our UBC’s village, which would be a gourmet paradise to most of UBC students. Meanwhile, we also felt that the canteen was too small and crowded.

A Small Table Card

We found there's small cards like this on every table in the library. It says if we have any question for the library but do not want to leave the seat, we can just text to librarian for help. They will answer you if you can copy a textbook; about the library hours, about APA citations or even you can ask questions about any of your own writing stuff. I think everybody who ever studied in this library and benefit from this text service would no doubt back this library again. If I were a Langara College student, I would be proud of this smart and humanized high-tech library.

Computer Room

This Computer room is part of the Langara library building. It did not draw our attention during our first visit of Langara college.While in the second time, this bright and clean room immediately caught our eyes when we passing by.We found that most computers in Langara College are iMacs.In our mind, Apple is a brand stands for high quality and of course, expensive . We assumed that langara would be a college pursues excellent education style and trying to provides facilitative learning devices to students.However, we also guessed that the tuition fee of langara college may beyond our imagination……

Walk Into the Library

Like every university library, collection of Langara college library is very rich, especially in science and English language study references. We found that most of the books are recent years' publications. The library facilities are also well supplied, including study rooms, presentation practice rooms, computers, labs and printers, photocopies and so on. This year, their Study space opens until 10p.m. in the library building in weekdays after the Library closes. The online library service is very convenience too. On the web site, we can search for books, academic journals, electronic magazines and digital resources on varieties of subjects. They also provides free help with the citation styles most commonly used in Canadian universities. Langara college near our three group members' home very much, we directly benefit from the convenient service of its library. As the information desk staff in the library said to us:" This is an open library welcomes everyone." If you want to know more about the Langara College library, please refer to the following link: http://www2.langara.bc.ca/library/ 

Child Care Centre

That was the second time we came there.Unfortunately, it was raining like last time. We were walking though the buildings and tried to shelter from the rain. On the way, we heard the laughter from young kids. We walked approaching and found a child Care Center. Why is there a kindergarten located in a college? We found the reasons through the staff that numerous mothers went to college studying in North America and no one will take care of their babies if they left them home. It is interesting for me because in my mind it’s hard to connect child care centre to schools.

Enthusiastic people

Across the electric gate, we came to the main lobby where is bright and spacious. Some was studying individually, while some was having a heated discussion in groups which we found interesting. Usually in China, the library is quiet all the time, so group studying is seldom seen in library. When we were going to take a photo for them, we seemed to have been noticed by them because the discussion stopped and everyone turned to us. Luckily, they didn’t seem to be angry. On the contrary, they posed in order to in line with us. What a warm group of people! If it happens in China, there must be two possible reflections: indifference or angry. In fact, I was a little overwhelmed at that time. Fortunately, revese finished taking photos calmly. 

Coffee Bar

The library is the most obvious building when we first stepped into Langara campus. Once we entered into the library, the smell of coffee floated into our noses. A Starbucks is located in front of the entrance. Several students are sitting outside the coffee bar, either having their lunch with watching their computer or enjoying the coffee while talking with their friends. Some students queued in a line waiting for service inside the room. At that moment, I almost though I must enter to a cafeteria. The picture of my university’s library came to my mind that everyone drank the instant coffee by using the water heater in the washroom while the Starbucks is located in the downtown’s shopping mall.

That day was a rainy day, our group first visit of Langara College. We felt like our all enthusiasm was taken away by the annoying drizzle. Suddenly, one of our group members found a  "little duck" was swimming  in a small pond outside the building. This normal, cute duck was just like our mood regulator. We felt that grey awful day immediately turned to be a colorful one. We all squatted down and watching this little yellow magic tiny thing. Bad weather, whatever, let it be. Life is here.

This is a walkway between two buildings. We found that in Langara college, there always have this or that kind of walkways between two buildings. All the walkways were well designed and furnished. Sofas and windows are two things there I appreciate most. I sat down on one of them and just felt extremly comfortable, I found some students were there have a casual lunch or just see a movie. Speaking of windows, I want to say, the large floor-to-ceiling windows were amazing, they create dazzling displays of sunlight and transparency inside the house. Walkways are definitely good places for relaxing in Langara College.  

     We took these two funny pictures in the art institution of Langara College. These doodles were right on students' locker.Walking from beginning to the end of the walkway was like experiencing a visit of an abstract painting gallery.One of the most creative things in Langara I think were right on these lockers. I don't know any student in this institution, but maybe I can figure out their personality, their value, their opinions to life very quickly by looking at their works.Visit to Langara became more attractive from that time. Life is just like these doodles, black or white at the beginning,just use our own ways to color and refresh it.

Langara College library

Langara College's library impressed us a lot. There is a Starbucks Coffee at the first floor, you can take a break and enjoy your coffee during study. Inside of library, there are a lot of useful facilities such as computers, televisions, study rooms as well as discussion areas with tables and chairs. It is quite enjoyable to study here. You can take your own laptop to study here or read the books they offered in the library.

We saw several groups of students gather together seem having seminar, checking books, and typing computers, everyone is doing their part, however they talked very quietly without bothering others.

In the library, tables and bookshelves are well organized, it is comfortable to walk on its carpet. Perfect color matching with white tables and green chairs, red tables and orange chairs, as soon as you come in you will feel quite and relax.

First floor

This is the first floor of the library with a lot of computers and books, students study here are very focused. As we can see there are two classes going on at the second floor. Today is Sunday, some of student still have classes on weekend.

It is very bright with giant glasses as wall, which saves more energy and makes study more enjoyable. At the end, there are tones of books on bookshelves. You can pick up anyone you like to read and return it after you finished, bring it out of library is not allowed unless you have student card.

Some students get in pairs to study, some of them just study alone, no matter who you study with, they seem very focus on their study, staring at computer and using hand holding head. Or some of them just discuss with hand gesturing, seems like expressing their opinions. 

Group Study Room

This is a group study room allows 5 to 6 students here and this room's regulation shows you can book this room for study purpose at a time. Or you can directly walk in and study, that is what we did, till we left there is not anyone walk in and use it. There are about 4 rooms,each is like this one, at the second and third floor. This room is very quite and suitable to have a seminar or a group discussion. With a bright light, we feel comfortable to study here. Another reason we felt comfortable study here is preference temperature, there is central control there.
